Abstract

The objective of this study was to know the patients’ characteristics, antituber-culosis drug use, and to analyzed the influence of counselling about tuberculosis therapy on patient’s adherence in Pancoran Mas-Depok. This study was quasi experiment design (non randomized control group pretest-postest design). The in-clusion criteria were the people with tuberculosis who took antituberculosis drugs from February – May 2007 in Pancoran Mas-Depok, and followed pretest and postest. Total samples were fifty two respondents. Respondents were divided into two groups, intervention group and control group. Both of groups were given questionnaire (pre-test). After that, intervention group were given counselling about tuberculosis therapy. A month later, both of groups were given a similar questionnaire (postest). Data was analysed with t-test. The result of this study showed that majority of respondents in intervention and control group were productive aged, low education, employee, but majority of intervention group were women and majority of control group were men. The results of this study showed that there was a significant different of adherence to tuberculosis therapy between intervention group and control group (p value = 0,007). There was influence of conselling on patient’s adherence to tuberculosis therapy.

Abstract

In pharmaceutical process, milling is a common process to produce particle in certain expectation size. Impact of milling process could lead to physical interaction. Dissolution rate will change as an impact of physical interaction. To observe physical interaction between methampyrone and phenylbutazone during milling process, is needed to analyze its X-ray diffractogram, DSC thermogram and dissolution rate. Data of X-ray diffractogram, differential scanning calorimetry and dissolution test, showed that physical interaction occurred after 5,5 hours and 18 hours of milling and cause enhancement of dissolution rate of phenylbutazone. Dissolution rate of methampyrone was constant after 5,5 hours of milling. Decreasing dissolution rate of methampyrone occured after 18 hours of milling.

Abstract

Epigallocatechin gallat (EGCg) is a polyphenol constituent in tea that has antioxidant effect. The purpose of this research was to identify and examine qualitative and quantitative EGCg in green tea preparations which were stored in different condition, that was in a refrigerator and in an open air. The results showed that all samples containing EGCg. The examination of EGCg concentration in the sample was done by thin layer chromatography densitometric method using cellulose plate. N-propanol - acetic acid - water (1:1:5) was the selected eluent. Linear regression equation from calibration curve was y = -1204.071 + 7.495 x, with correlation factor (r) = 0.99911. EGCg concentration from sample that stored in refrigerator sample number one was 0.00293% w/v, sample number two was 0.00298% w/v, and sample number three was 0.00328% w/v. EGCg concentration from sample that stored in open air was lower than LOD.

Abstract

Selection and usage of rational drugs determine the success of expected therapeutic effect, especially for pediatrics. Acute bronchitis in pediatrics is one of the highest incidents of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) in Army Hospital Kartika Husada Kubu Raya. This study aimed to evaluate rationality of drug doses conformity in outpatient pediatric acute bronchitis in Army Hospital Kartika Husada Kubu Raya on 2015. This research was a descriptive observational research with cross-sectional design. The sample was taken with purposive sampling amounted to 36 prescriptions. Then the evaluation of drug doses conformity was counted according to the literature. The results showed that drugs which were used for acute bronchitis were mucolitics and expectorants, antibiotics, bronchodilators, multivitamins, decongestans, analgesics, and antihistamins. The result of drug dosage conformity evaluation showed that the under-dose drug item (R/) was 51%, over-dose was 15% and appropriate dose was 34%.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease with long-term treatment that requires knowledge and self-management to control blood sugar level. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the provision of booklet and pharmacist education in improving knowledge and behavior of self-management of type 2 diabetes mellitus patient at Mayapada Hospital Tangerang. This study respondents were 90 people who were divided into 3 groups. Group 1 got booklet and education, group 2 got booklet only and control group did not get any treatment. Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) levels before the intervention were in poorly controlled category and after intervention there was no significant change. There was an increase in the level of knowledge and self-management in group 1 and group 2. There was no significant change in FBG. Provision of booklet with education by pharmacist showed a higher increase in knowledge (p=0.02) and self management behavior (p<0.001) than provision of booklet only. There was no relationship between knowledge and self-management behavior with blood sugar levels. It could be concluded that booklet and education by pharmacist could improve knowledge and behavior of self-management of DM type 2 patients in each intervention group. However, there was no relationship between knowledge and self-management behavior with FBG.
